What’s the Significance of Rehab After Surgery?

Are you scheduled to have a surgical procedure soon? Among the many things you need to do to prepare is to talk to your doctor about scheduling your post-surgical rehabilitation.

What Is the Importance of Rehab After Surgery?
No matter what type of surgery you’re recovering from—from joint replacements to a total hip replacement—undergoing rehab after surgery with a physical therapist is essential to maximize your physical potential and accelerate your recovery.

No matter how minimally invasive a surgical procedure is, it still causes trauma to your body. While your body is healing, you’ll likely experience challenges like pain, inflammation, and swelling. You may also have newfound difficulty with daily tasks like dressing, standing, and walking. You may even have specific instructions from your surgeon on things to do or things not to do in order to protect your healing of the surgical site and prevent complications.

For example, if you’ve had surgery to correct a broken bone in y..

Lasik is only one alternative!

Lasik is only one alternative!

Lasik is not the only option!
Refraction correction alternatives to LASIK eye surgery

If your Michigan ophthalmologist told you that you are not an ideal candidate for LASIK surgery, do not lose hope, there are other alternatives that can reduce your dependence on glasses and contact lenses. The Yaldo eye center is one of the best lasik eye surgery Michigan clinics.

There are several reasons why a LASIK doctor may determine that you are not an ideal candidate for the procedure. For example, some patients have very thin corneas, severe refractive errors or other conditions that prevent them from undergoing LASIK. However, these patients may consider two other procedures: implantable contact lenses (ICL) and refractive lens exchange (RLE).

Implantable contact lenses (ICL)
Implantable contact lenses (ICL) correct vision in a manner very similar to external contact lenses, except for the fact that ICLs are placed inside the eye, improving vision permanently. ICLs are also similar to int..

6 Unnoticed Asbestos Family Gadgets in 2018

Do you know, asbestos household items are found in the house of many families around the world? Asbestos household items are present in many homes throughout the United States. Asbestos poses a risk when it becomes friable, meaning it can be broken or crumble easily. Asbestos was commonly added to many home building materials before 1979. Although asbestos stopped being manufactured at that time due to federal regulations, products containing the toxic mineral continued to be used until the existing supply was exhausted, until the early 1980s. If you or your loved one was recently diagnosed with stage four mesothelioma or showing stage four mesothelioma cancer symptoms, we can help you find help.

All forms of asbestos household items can cause serious illnesses like asbestosis, mesothelioma, and ovarian, lung, or laryngeal cancers, though they may take decades after exposure to develop. If you do find items in your home that you think might be contaminated, don’t try to remove them on..

Can Menopause Trigger Hair Loss?

Can Menopause Trigger Hair Loss?
Around the age of 40, women can begin to experience hair problems or worsen those they already have. On the one hand, the passage of time causes the capillary density to decrease, so that the hair becomes thinner and brittle. And on the other, hormonal changes in women influence hair loss, due to the imbalance that occurs between androgens (male hormones) and estrogens (female hormones). In this age there is a sudden drop in estrogen levels while those of testosterone remain stable, which affects the life cycle of the hair, shortening it and favoring its fall. Michigan hair transplant specialists have noted that the majority of women who come in for a hair transplant have recently been experiencing symptoms of menopause.

Although it is a very common problem, it does not affect all women in the same way and with the same intensity since other factors are involved such as the genetic inheritance and the state in which the hair was previously.

The way to initiate Physical Therapy

Starting physical therapy can be a scary and stressful process. When your physician recommends PT, many people are unsure what to do next. Hopefully, this will help answer some common questions about how to set-up therapy and what to expect from PT.

Physician’s Referral
Some insurances require a signed prescription from a licensed physician (MD, DO) within the past 30 days to begin PT, which you will need to bring to the initial evaluation. Some insurance companies allow Direct Access (DA) where you can get evaluated directly by a licensed PT without a script. If you do not have a script, it is best to first call our office to see if you qualify for direct access, or we can schedule you with one of our on-site physicians.

Insurance Coverage
Every insurance plan is unique and we always encourage our patients to first call our new patient coordinator to find out what your PT benefits are prior to beginning PT. Being in physical pain and needing PT can be stressful enough, we always wan..

What’s astigmatism and how do we handle it?

What’s astigmatism and how do we handle it?

What is Astigmatism and how can we treat it?
Astigmatism is a frequent and usually treatable alteration in the curvature of the eye that causes distant and near blurred vision. Astigmatism occurs when the cornea or lens has an irregular curvature. Like myopia and hyperopia, astigmatism is a refractive error, which means that it is neither an eye disease nor a health problem; it is simply an eye problem in the focus of the visual image.

Symptoms of astigmatism

Astigmatism causes blurred vision at any distance. The symptoms of an untreated astigmatism are visual fatigue and headache, especially after reading or doing activities that require using vision for a long time. Strabismus is also a very common symptom. Lasik eye surgery Michigan can help correct astigmatism for those in Michigan.

What causes astigmatism?

Astigmatism is usually caused by irregularities in the shape of the cornea. Instead of having a symmetrical rounded shape (like a baseball), it has a more similar shape to a..

Even if you were exposed to asbestos decades ago and your old employer is out of business, you should still speak with a knowledgeable mesothelioma attorney about filing a claim for compensation.
